C-Tran named Transit System of Year for second time

C-Tran was named the 2022 North American Transit System of the Year by the American Public Transportation Association. It was the second time since 2019 that C-Tran won.

C-Tran was judged among other similar-sized public transportation systems around the country. The award recognizes C-Tran’s work in a number of categories ranging from diversity, equity and inclusion to safety and customer service.

“This is an incredible honor, and I’m extremely proud of our employees who selflessly serve our amazing community each and every day,” C-Tran CEO Shawn Donaghy said. “To be selected for this award twice is nothing short of a thrill, yet humbling.”

Factors in the award include C-Tran’s rapid transport system, The Vine. Donaghy and the staff created an employee-led diversity team, developed an agencywide sustainability policy, became a certified green business and navigated the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We take tremendous pride in the work we do, and it’s a reminder that public transportation is much larger than routes and schedules,” Donaghy said. “It’s about relationships. It’s about community engagement. It’s about providing access to opportunities, and doing everything we can to make Clark County a better place to live.”

Donaghy received a 7 percent salary increase this month. He joined the agency in 2017.
